The San Gwann F.C. Youth Football Nursery will be organising their annual International Youth Football Tournament between 4 and 14 April.
The 14th edition of The Mediterranean Cup will have no fewer than 48 teams taking part with over 700 participants, one team each from Italy and Germany as well as 22 local Football Nurseries, thus making this Annual Easter tournament, the largest youth football festival to be organised locally.
The teams will compete in six different age categories ranging from the Under 8s up till the under 13s.
The draws for this year’s event were held at the San Gwann Local Council offices, whereby Nursery Secretary, Christoper Sant highlighted the importance of each club officials’ contribution to ensure that the games are played in a friendly environment, bearing in mind that the activities are being organised during Holy Week.
Youth Nursery President Ivan Calamatta, underlined the importance the annual event has on the local youth football arena and augured a successful participation, especially to the teams who will be participating for the first time.
San Gwann Mayor Rene Savona Ventura spoke about the Local Council’s annual pledge to support the San Gwann nursery on the organisation of this important event, which is the largest annual manifestation of youth in the locality.
He augured representatives of those present to encourage their respective local councils to follow the San Gwann example for the good of the sport.
This year’ s Mediterranean Cup will be organised in collaboration with the San Gwann Local Council, and sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Thomas Smith Insurance Agency, The General Soft Drinks Co. Ltd., Fexco and Farenheit.
