HSBC Group Chairman Stephen Green yesterday arrived for an official three-day Malta visit. Mr Green is accompanied by his wife Jay.
Mr Green’s programme started with a courtesy visit to both the Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and Finance, the Economy and Investment Minister Tonio Fenech at the Office of the Prime Minister.
This was followed by a meeting with the President of Malta George Abela at the Palace in Valletta. The President will also host a reception at which Stephen Green will introduce his book ‘Good Value – Reflections on money, morality and an uncertain world’.
Following the book presentation, a concert by tenor Joseph Calleja and soprano Maria Abela, accompanied on the piano by Mro Michael Laus, was held in honour of Mr and Mrs Green and their distinguished guests at The Palace’s Tapestry Room.
Mr Green has been Group Chairman of HSBC Holdings plc since 2006, following three years as the Group’s CEO. He has worked with HSBC since 1982 and has been an ordained priest in the Church of England since 1988. Chairman of the British Bankers’ Association, he is also Chair of the Prime Minister’s Business Council for Britain and a Trustee of the British Museum.
