The former children’s hospital, Karin Grech Hospital, has been converted into a rehabilitation hospital and will be accepting its first patients next Monday and Tuesday, when rehabilitation patients being cared for at Zammit Clapp Hospital will be transferred there.
Karin Grech Hospital has seen intensive structural works over the past months and airconditioners and new services have been installed. It will mean that rehabilitation services will be increased considerably, so much so that it will not be just elderly people who will be given rehabilitation services there, but everyone who needs it. And where Zammit Clapp Hospital could accommodate 60 patients, Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital will accommodate up to 153 patients, and also offer a day hospital and related outpatients services.
Zammit Clapp Hospital is now in turn for a transformation, and it is to be converted into a hospital for elderly persons needing long term care.
