The Cabinet today approved the nomination of a new judge and a new magistrate, the DOI said in a statement.

Magistrate Edwina Grima will now become a judge while Dr Joanne Vella Cuschieri will be appointed a magistrate.

Magistrate Grima was born in Sliema in 1969 and became a lawyer in 1993, specializing in civil and marriage cases. She was appointed magistrate in 2007.

Dr Vella Cuschieri was born in Mellia in 1976 and became a lawyer in 2001. She is a partner in a lawyers’ firm. She was a Labour Party candidate in the last election.
