As the year ended, with the price for crude oil having been halved in the past six months, Malta found itself in the rather unenviable position of having the sixth highest price for diesel and the eighth highest price for petrol in Europe.

This emerges from tables updated till yesterday, carried by the website Fuel-prices-Europe.info.

Above Malta as to petrol prices there are Norway, the Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Denmark, Israel and the UK while as for diesel, above Malta there are the UK, Norway, Italy, Israel and Iceland.
