General Workers’ Union has strongly condemned the attempts by Union Haddiema Maqgudin to discredit the verification process within Malta Freeport Terminal, to try and make up for the lack of trust employees have of the union.

Two days ago UĦM hit out at Malta Freeport Corporation's management over the manner in which it is conduction the union recognition process. It said that Freeport’s management is doing its utmost to try and accommodate the GWU, so much so that GWU officials are seen roaming the corridors during the verification process.

In a reaction, GWU said that the union breached no regulation or condition in having an official present, noting that a member of UĦM was also present.

UĦM are in a state of panic and is trying to create accusations which are untrue.Employees are fed up of being unheard and that is why they chose GWU to represent them, the union said.

Following accusatons, the verification process was carried out again today.
