Parliamentary Secretary for Health explained that the vaccine against the flu was made available to the general public. So far, more than 64,000 people have taken this vaccine. The number of vaccines imported amounted to 80,000.
Replying to a Parliamentary Question this evening, Dr Chris Fearne said that this vaccine was primarily available for those who work in various institutions such as the police and hospital workers.
The vaccine has now been extended to everyone and the public can receive the medication by visiting one of the health centres in different localities.
He explained that this vaccine is highly recommended for those regarded as the most vulnerable in society. These include children of between 6 months and two years, those over 55 years of age and people who suffer from chronic illnesses such as asthma and diabetes.
