Sunday, 2 August 2020, 12:13 Last update: about 5 years ago

The Chamber of SMEs will be organising, together with the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA), a meeting dedicated to informing owners of restaurants, bars, wedding halls, clubs as well as event organisers about the current Covid-19 regulations following the recent spike in the number of cases.

Deputy President of the Chamber of SMEs Philip Fenech, who also heads up the tourism, hospitality and leisure section for the Chamber, said that Malta Tourism Authority CEO Johann Buttigieg will be present, as will the Head of MTA Enforcement David Mifsud. A presentation about the regulations will be given, and then questions will be taken.

Fenech explained that people have been very confused as to who the regulations affect, and that this was the reason for this meeting being called.

The event will be held at 3pm on Monday at the Westin Dragonara.

Fenech said that through contact tracing of some tourists who had tested positive, some venues were made to close down, sanitise the premises and acquire the necessary certification afterwards before being allowed to reopen.
