Saturday, 6 March 2021, 14:05 Last update: about 4 years ago

People aged 60 and over will over the coming days start receiving their vaccination letter, Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne said on Saturday.

The appointment letters will be sent gradualy over the coming weeks, he added.

People aged between 71 and 74 will also be receiving appointment letters.

Fearne explained that the vaccination drive will continue in parallel, using vaccines that are recommended for different age groups.

There are currently some 40 vaccination centres, including all health centres, community clinics, Mater Dei Hospital, the University, the AFM barracks in Luqa and the Water Services head office in Luqa.

“The vaccine is the best tool to fight Covid-19,” Fearne said. “The vaccine, together with the observance of mitigation measures will be fundamental to reduce the number of active cases.”
