Prime Minister Robert Abela scrapped the controversial contract issued by the Education Ministry to former Malta footballer Daniel Bogdanovic when he found out about it, he said on Sunday.
MaltaToday had reported that the former footballer, who is a friend of Education Minister Justyne Caruana, was given a €15,000 contract to work on a national sports curriculum, despite his lack of pedagogical qualifications.
Speaking during an event on Sunday, the Prime Minister said that he had scrapped the contract when he found out about it.
Politician Arnold Cassola had asked the Standards Commissioner to investigate the contract for a breach of ethics, warning that Bogdanovic was the minister’s boyfriend.
