Covid 19: Active cases drop below 900 as two more deaths registered

The number of active Covid-19 cases has dropped to below 900 for the first time in five months as two more deaths were registered, the health authorities said.

In all, 55 new Covid cases were reported, while 286 people recovered, the authorities said.

The total number of cases is now 28,993, with 390 deaths.

The two deaths reported today are a 78-year-old man and an 83-year-old woman, who both died at Mater Dei Hospital.

The number of swab tests carried out in the last 24 hours was 2,086 for a total of 807,370.

There have been 27,704 recoveries, with the number of active cases now at 899.

The last time Malta had fewer than 1,000 active cases was on 14 October, with 940.

The number of vaccination doses administered so far is 186,111, of which 52,340 were second doses.
