89.7 Bay hosted a 30-hour marathon last month during which they raised €10,517 to donate to local animal sanctuaries

Radio presenters Daniel and Ylenia hosted the marathon which was supported by Dr. Lydia Abela. It ran for 30 hours straight from 30th April to 1st May. All of the funds collected throughout were in aid of MSPCA, Noah’s Ark, and Island Sanctuary.

Earlier today, Eden Leisure Group also donated €5000 towards the original goal of €10,000. General Manager of Eden Leisure Group, Kevin DeCesare Jr. presented this donation during this mornings’ Breakfast show.

“We wanted to do our part and support the station’s efforts,” De Cesare said, “ELG is always eager to push for causes like these and help however we can.”

Given the ongoing pandemic, Animal Welfare NGOs have been hit hard, with donations running low and demands for assistance on the rise.

€15,000 worth of prizes were also given away throughout the marathon to continue to encourage people to donate towards the cause. A number of special guests were also brought on, including Kevin Paul, Gaia, The New Victorians, MICIMAGO, Ben Camille and many others.
