Konrad Mizzi set to appear before PAC on Wednesday

Tuesday, 2 November 2021, 11:53 Last update: about 4 years ago

MP Konrad Mizzi is set to attend a Public Accounts Committee Meeting about the Electrogas deal tomorrow, The Malta Independent is informed.

This comes after the MP delayed his appearance before the committee for weeks.

The former special projects minister had failed to show up four times. Mizzi refused the first two summons to the committee, saying that the process was a partisan witch hunt led by the Nationalist MPs on the committee and adding that he had every right to refuse to attend given that he is still an MP. He then said he would show up after he was summoned for a third time but later said his lawyer was not available.

Mizzi was then summoned to appear before the PAC again, but said on that he and his lawyer are only available from 3 November onwards.

A meeting was then set for 3 November and this newsroom is informed that he will attend.

The Times of Malta reports that he will be accompanied by two lawyers, one of whom is former Magistrate Carol Peralta. It reports that his other lawyer is Jean Paul Sammut.

The Electrogas deal was brokered when Mizzi was Minister for Energy and he played a big role in the agreement.
