A 71-year-old woman was injured after being hit by a truck in what police are saying was a hit-and-run.

The accident happened in Birkirkara Road in San Gwann at around 10am on Thursday.

Preliminary investigations showed that the woman, who lives in San Gwann, was injured after she was hit by a truck which is yet to be identified because it kept on going.

The woman was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where she was certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

Police investigations are on going.
