A Nationalist Party government will improve the infrastructure and facilities used by fishermen, party leader Bernard Grech said, placing special emphasis on Marsaxlokk and Xemxija.

This, he said, would be done so that they could work in a more competitive and effective environment.

Grech spoke during a visit to Marsaxlokk. He said that farmers and fishermen should be given financial support in order to increase their investment.

He said that the PN understands the challenges faced by these sectors.

In Marsaxlokk, he also announced that the PN wants to drive innovation and the use of technology in terms of crop yields, in order to address part of the labour shortage problems in this field.

"A PN government will also invest in a leap in quality in terms of operations, so that the Pitkalija, the slaughterhouse and the fish market will be centers of excellence that are efficient, modern, transparent with consistent policy."
