Two cyclists hit by vehicles in separate accidents in Qormi and Luqa

Two cyclists have been hit by vehicles in separate accidents that took place almost simultaneously.

One cyclist was hit in Luqa while the other accident took place in Qormi.

The exact locations of the accidents is not yet known but several ambulances were seen rushing in the direction of the airport.

The accidents took place at around 4:30pm, a police spokesperson said.

No further details are available at this stage.

Earlier in the day, a man was hit by a car in Fgura. He was grievously injured.

The police said the accident took place in Triq is-Sur at around 9:15am.

The man, whose identity is not yet known, was hit by an Opel Insignia that was being driven by a 36-year-old woman from Fgura. The car then crashed into a parked Toyota Aygo.

The pedestrian was given first aid on site and was later taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance. Police investigations are ongoing.
