A man is suffering from serious injuries after he was hit by a car in a traffic accident early on Monday morning.

In a statement, police said that the accident happened at around 3:15am in Triq Diċembru Tlettax in Marsa.

Preliminary investigations showed that a 31-year-old Eritrean who lives in Hal-Far had been hit by a Suzuki Swift which was being driven by a 32-year-old from Zejtun.

The victim was given first aid on site, and was taken to Mater Dei by ambulance, where he was later certified as suffering from serious injuries.

Duty magistrate Lara Lanfranco is leading a magisterial inquiry, while police investigations are ongoing.
