A man was grievously injured early on Sunday after he lost control of the car he was driving and crashed into a barrier.

The police said the accident took place in Louis Wettinger Street, Mellieha. At 12.15am.

The driver, a 38-year-old man, was driving a BMW 420D.

He was taken to hospital with grievous injuries.
