The Malta Society of Arts (MSA) is excited to announce the launch of its summer courses schedule, set to kick off in July. Featuring an array of offerings in visual, applied and performing arts, the schedule, hosted at the MSA's headquarters at Palazzo de La Salle in Valletta, welcomes individuals of all ages and skill levels.

New additions to this year's line-up include acting and drama workshops tailored for adults and a course in charcoal and pencil drawing. Building on the success of previous years, these popular courses aim to provide participants with engaging and enriching experiences.

Actor and educator Yvette Grech Buhagiar will lead the acting and drama workshops catering to participants aged 16 and over. Younger aspiring thespians can join these workshops under the tutelage of popular actor and teacher Emanuel Cassar. Through these sessions, students will delve into various aspects of theatrical performance, including voice, movement, character development and improvisation. Participants will learn how to use the acting space, explore a character, devise a dialogue, be spontaneous and sharpen their physicality on stage.

The Acting and Drama series of workshops for both kids and grown-ups encourages creativity and confidence, and helps participants gain flexibility and versatility, while bringing fun and magic to the process. The workshops welcome both beginners and seasoned actors looking to further hone their acting skills.

For aspiring artists, the MSA is offering a Pencil and Charcoal Drawing course for the first time. Facilitated by instructor Matthew Shirfield, this course, aimed at beginners aged 15 years or over, offers a unique opportunity to explore fundamental drawing techniques and theories. Participants will develop their observational skills and gain insight into the art of drawing, utilising pencils and charcoal to create expressive works.

Due to popular demand, the Creative Writing course makes its debut as a summer offering, covering essential storytelling techniques such as character development, plot construction and worldbuilding. With limited spaces available, early application is encouraged for those eager to sharpen their writing skills.

The summer schedule also features a diverse range of courses in crafts, including lace-making, embroidery, knitting, crochet, sewing, dressmaking and tailoring. Visual arts enthusiasts can enjoy workshops in nude human figure painting, clay modelling, portraiture and art lessons for children and adults of all ages and levels, while music enthusiasts can explore courses in pianoforte, violin and guitar.

"As we prepare to embark on another summer of creativity and learning, we are thrilled to unveil our comprehensive line-up of courses catering to a wide range of interests," says Adrian Mamo, president of MSA. "At the MSA, we remain committed to fostering artistic talent and providing a supportive environment for individuals to explore their passions."
