Thursday, 2 May 2024, 12:23 Last update: about 15 days ago

In what seems like an endless stream of captivating showcases at Rudy Buhler Art in Marsaskala, one event stands out as a must-see for 2024: an exhibition featuring the extraordinary paintings of acclaimed Maltese artist Matthew Joseph Casha.

In 2023, Matthew garnered acclaim by clinching the esteemed "Premju għall-arti" for Best International Achievement, bestowed by Arts Council Malta as part of the Open Square Collective. Notably, he also secured finalist positions for the Artist of the Year Award and Best International Achievement in an individual capacity. Could Matthew Casha be heralded as the fresh luminary gracing the vibrant landscape of Maltese contemporary art? Matthew's art is unique in the Maltese art landscape and is a result of his typical "outside the box" approach to everything he does. In this exhibition entitled "Tmermir" or "Decay" Matthew delves into the intricate interplay between form and decay, seeking to unveil the profound beauty inherent in the gradual erosion of structure and the emergence of macro-perspectives. Through his work, he aims to capture the essence of impermanence, inviting viewers to contemplate the ever-evolving nature of existence and find solace in the relationship between creation and dissolution.
