98kg of cocaine found among frozen shrimps in container at Freeport

Ninety-eight kilogrammes of cocaine were discovered in a container at Malta Freeport on Wednesday, the police said Friday.

The drugs were in a container carrying frozen shrimps, which had left from  Guayaquil in Ecuador and was on its way to Genoa in Italy.

The drugs were discovered during routine checks.

Magistrate Joe Mifsud is leading an inquiry.
