Malta International Airport plc is pleased to welcome Mr Christian Schroetter on board, following the announcement of his appointment as Chief Financial Officer.
Schroetter brings with him a wealth of experience and a strong financial background, with expertise in treasury, controlling, accounting, risk management, and financial reporting.
He joins the company from a fast-growing Austrian start-up in the automotive sector, where he served as Managing Director. Previously, Mr Schroetter held the position of Chief Financial Officer at several companies across different industries, including engineering, mobile telecommunications, and building technology. In these positions, he was responsible for large-scale financing and other strategic functions.
Schroetter succeeds outgoing CFO Karl Dandler, who retired at the end of August after a decade of service at Malta International Airport.
While welcoming Schroetter to the team, Malta International Airport Chief Executive Officer Alan Borg expressed his gratitude to Mr Dandler for his financial leadership, which played a key role in delivering exceptional financial results and was instrumental in positioning the company for a swift return to profitability following the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Mr Schroetter's diverse skill set places him in a strong position to seamlessly continue the work of his predecessor. Christian brings with him experience and expertise that extend well beyond financial proficiency, which will be instrumental in driving Malta International Airport forward as it enters an exciting phase of growth and strives to remain one of the best airports in Europe," said Borg.
Schroetter has also been appointed member of the Company's Board of Directors.
