The Labour Party took aim at Alex Borg's 100 days as PN leader, saying that his leadership has been marked by politics of confusion.
"Despite not winning the majority of votes from party members, Borg defeated Adrian Delia by just 44 votes. Among Alex Borg's first statements after that election was that he could become Prime Minister within one single month. Since then, his leadership has been marked by politics of confusion and random, inconsistent positions. The Nationalist Leader claimed that generic medicines are of inferior quality, and pharmacists and doctors, among others, resorted to publicly to contradict him."
"The Nationalist Leader said that workers should start working only four days a week, and employer representatives had to criticise him for dishing out a proposal without any discussion. The Nationalist Leader proposed a constitutional amendment related to the environment, and this was also condemned by sports associations, band clubs, hunters and trappers, and the maritime sector, among others," the PL said.
"Under his leadership, the Nationalist Party once again failed to publish any pre budget document, while proposing measures without realising that many of them, such as affordable housing initiatives, have already been in place for years. He also welcomed back former MP Edwin Vassallo, known for his positions against divorce, LGBTIQ rights, and IVF. Vassallo now feels comfortable with the principles once again being embraced by the Nationalist Party."
"It is clear that nothing has changed within the Nationalist Party, except the name of the Leader. While the Nationalist Party celebrates and talks about its first 100 days, the Labour Party in government remains committed to continuing to deliver more positive results for the present and future of Maltese and Gozitan families."
