Total guests in collective accommodation establishments during Q4 2025 stood at 716,536 – NSO

Total guests in collective accommodation establishments during the fourth quarter of 2025 stood at 716,536, while total nights spent amounted to 2,960,096, the National Statistics Office (NSO) has said.

"In the fourth quarter of 2025, the largest share of guest nights was reported in 4-star hotels, with 49.7% of the total."

The average length of stay in collective accommodation establishments in 2025 slightly decreased to 4.1 nights when compared to the figure registered during the same quarter of 2024. The net use of bed-places stood at 59.8%, up by 0.9 percentage points when compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

On a national level, during December 2025, there were 347 active collective accommodation establishments with a net capacity of 23,343 bedrooms and 53,626 bed-places, it said.

Regional breakdown

On a regional level, total guests in Malta numbered 679,219, up by 13.6% over the fourth quarter of 2024, the NSO said. "Additionally, an increase of 10.6% was recorded in the number of nights spent, reaching 2,863,634 nights. Total guests in Gozo and Comino increased by 30.5% to 37,317 while nights increased by 26.2% to 96,462."

When compared with the same quarter of the previous year, in Malta, the average length of stay decreased slightly to 4.2 nights, while in Gozo and Comino the average length of stay decreased slightly to 2.6 nights. "The net occupancy rate in Malta increased by 0.8 percentage points, reaching 60.6%, and that in Gozo and Comino increased by 4.3 percentage points to 42.8%."
