Police arrested two men yesterday during separate traffic checks after they were found in possession of drugs allegedly intended for trafficking, the police said Thursday.

The first incident occurred in Gudja, where a 26-year-old resident of Zejtun was pulled over on Dawret il-Gudja. During the stop, the man was observed attempting to hide something on the back seat of his car.

This led to a search that yielded packets of suspected cannabis, MDMA, about twenty ecstasy pills, and a packet containing a pink powder. Officers also seized three mobile phones and a quantity of cash. The investigation continued at his home in Zejtun, where police found grinders, bags with traces of cannabis, counterfeit money, and a fake firearm.

A second arrest followed later at the Mriehel Bypass. A 21-year-old from Birkirkara was stopped after his behavior raised suspicion. A search of his vehicle revealed packets of suspected cannabis, cocaine, more pink powder, and a grinder.

Both men are now in custody as investigations into the suspected trafficking operations continue.
