The Nationalist Party is promising to trade a broken promise for a multibillion-euro maritime future by finally moving the Marsaxlokk gas tanker out to sea.

Standing in Birżebbuġa alongside fellow Fifth District candidates, Ivan Castillo detailed the proposed Mediterranean Maritime Fuel Hub (MMFH), a project designed to relocate the LNG tanker to Hurd's Bank, more than 20km offshore.

This move aims to restore peace of mind to local residents while transforming Malta into a premier bunkering hub for LNG-powered vessels.

Castillo emphasised that the project is expected to generate €450 million in its first three years and create 150 high-quality jobs without adding any pressure to land-based infrastructure.

The offshore hub is designed to be future-proof, allowing for a seamless transition to new fuels as the industry evolves.

By removing the tanker within its first legislature, the PN pledges to give the residents of Marsaxlokk and the national economy a fresh start through increased energy stability and a strengthened position in the global maritime sector.

PN candidates on the Fifth District Toni Bezzina, Duncan Borg Myatt, Stefan Caruana, Oliver Cini, Owen Sciberras and Stanley Zammit attended the event.
