ADPD has accused both the Labour Party and the Nationalist Party of promoting policies that increase pollution and rely on outdated fossil fuel industries, the party said in a statement. 

The party criticised a PN proposal for a €450 million offshore fuel hub near Hurd's Bank, describing it as a large-scale bunkering facility for passing vessels. 

ADPD candidate Carmel Cacopardo said the PN proposal amounts to "a massive petrol station in the middle of the Mediterranean."

He added that the actions of both parties "expose a troubling bipartisan consensus that is completely detached from today's environmental realities."

The party also condemned the government's decision to grant Chevron a license to carry out oil and gas exploration studies in Maltese waters. 

ADPD argued that these developments reflect a bipartisan approach that prioritises fossil fuel infrastructure over environmental protection. The party warned that such projects could increase marine pollution and lock Malta into long-term fossil fuel dependency. 

The party said both major parties are failing to address climate change seriously and are instead promoting policies that contradict their environmental rhetoric. The statement claimed that references to oil exploration often resurface before elections as a tactic to create false expectations of economic gain. 

ADPD reiterated its position that Malta should focus on renewable energy, green technology, and sustainable economic opportunities instead of fossil fuels.
