Politics for the youth must be defined by consistency, sustainability, and long term well being rather than temporary electoral bribes, ADPD the Green Party said.

During a press conference led by Deputy General Secretary Mario Mallia and executive member Samuel Vella, ADPD The Green Party criticized recent campaign promises like smartwatches and superbonuses as attempts to buy young votes. Mallia argued that in an uncertain geopolitical climate, leadership must look beyond immediate gains to ensure that the burden of national debt does not crush future generations while supporting the most vulnerable.

Vella outlined key proposals designed to address the lived realities of young people in Malta. A primary focus is increasing collective bargaining coverage from 31 percent to the EU target of 80 percent to end the exploitation of young workers. The party also advocates for a living wage and urgent intervention in the housing market. With property prices doubling and rents soaring, ADPD proposes housing cooperatives and tax incentives for landlords to keep properties affordable.

The party's vision extends to social equality and infrastructure. Proposals include mandatory shared parental leave to balance domestic responsibilities and a transport system focused on reducing car dependency through dedicated bus lanes and safe cycling routes.

For Gozitan students and workers, the party demands priority boarding on ferries. Environmental protection also remains central, with a call for a moratorium on massive construction projects until local plans are reviewed to protect open spaces and mental health. Finally, ADPD insists on effective party financing laws to stop the construction industry from dictating the national agenda, ensuring that young people inherit a resilient and transparent country.
