A 23-year-old man from Mosta was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital with serious injuries following a late-night traffic accident in Mellieħa.

The accident occurred at around 11:30pm yesterday on Louis Wettinger Street, the police said Monday.

According to preliminary police investigations, the young man was driving a Volkswagen Golf when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn. The impact of the crash left the car severely damaged and the driver trapped inside.

Emergency services reacted swiftly to the scene. Members of the Civil Protection Department worked to safely extract the driver from the wreckage, while a medical team provided immediate on-site stabilization.

He was then transported to the hospital by ambulance, where medical professionals later certified that his injuries were serious.

Police investigations are ongoing.
