The mascot is called “FITSY” and was created by the Slovenian participants while the logo was designed by a Turkish student.
The main aim of this project is to make sport fun, to encourage extra curricular activities, to identify values in sport and to promote healthy eating. One of the expected outcomes is the integration of students from different cultures by means of common goals.
The project aims will be achieved through several activities such as health and exercise-related surveys carried out amongst a sample of students from every school. Teachers will organise a Healthy Eating Day in March and help their students learn their respective National Dance.
A power-point presentation prepared by the students together with a video recording of the national traditional dance will be sent to all participating schools.
The health and exercise-related activities will certainly be of great benefit to students at Margaret Mortimer GJL who, despite the lack of sports facilities in their school, are very enthusiastic about sports participation.
The school would like to thank the Malta Olympic Committee and the Health Promotion Department who are helping out with the activities.
This Comenius project is being funded by the Socrates Programme which is an educational programme of the European Union.
