Movie Musicals... from Screen to Stage is the theme of a concert featuring excerpts from three giant musical films – Fiddler on the Roof, Sister Act and the more recent Moulin Rouge – being presented by Teatru Rjal in February and March.
Teatru Rjal director Pawlu Testa said that the public response to last year’s successful concert Just Musicals was very encouraging, and the decision was made to stage a follow-up concert.
Movie Musicals.. from Screen to Stage, with live music and singing, is being presented at the Catholic Institute, Floriana, on 26 February at 7.30 pm, 27 February at 6.30pm and 6 March at 6.30pm. Nearly all the musical excerpts from Fiddler on the Roof will be interpreted by Mark Tonna, Debbie Scerri, Julie Zahra, Pamela and Simone De Battista. The unforgettable experience of watching and hearing Topol perform in Fiddler will be relived through the violin performance of Gorg Curmi il-Puse.
Claudette Pace, Debbie Scerri, Julie Zahra, Ina Robbinich and others will sing excerpts from Sister Act, while songs from Moulin Rouge will be sung by Ludwig Galea, Nadine Axisa, Ivan Debattista, Jeffrey Scicluna and other singers.
Musical arrangements are by Mro Joe Brown and his band while choreography is by Michelle Zerafa. Marco Bartolo will be taking care of scenery.
A special guest during the concert will be Hector Bruno, while the show will be directed and produced by Pawlu Testa.
Booking is open from Pawlu Testa Travel (2122-3340) or from the bar and booking office of the Catholic Institute.
