The Works and life of Maupassant

Malta Independent Sunday, 30 April 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The play Une vie, la vie, sa vie is based on the extraordinary works and life of Guy de Maupassant – one of the most fascinating figures in 19th century French literature.

Known prominently for his short stories, Guy de Maupassant had an exciting yet troubled life and a disturbing relationship with the “other”.

Written in the form of a confession, the spectator journeys into Maupassant’s mind and accompanies him on his comic/tragic experience.

Written and directed by Tyrone Grima and Krista Bonello Rutter Giappone it is being performed at St James Cavalier on 20 and 21 May at 7:30 pm.

The cast includes an interesting cross between trained actors and students or teachers of the French language. The main roles have been entrusted to Keith Borg and Carmel Serracino.

Tickets are available from St James booking office. The play is designed to be accessible even to members in the audience who are not fluent in the French language.
