The Curia On ‘Da Vinci Code’

Malta Independent Wednesday, 3 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 21 years ago

The Church believes that it should be said that the book and the film The Da Vinci Code include inventions of fantasy and do not agree with historical facts.

In a statement, the Maltese Curia said that Catholics should use their intelligence and sense of responsibility in the circumstances, most particularly parents on their children.

The Church reiterated its fundamental belief in the Divinity of Christ, his Resurrection from the dead and in other truths written in the Holy Gospel.

The statement was signed by Archbishop Mgr Joseph Mercieca, Gozo Bishop Mgr Mario Grech, Gozo Bishop Emeritus Mgr Nikol Cauchi and Auxiliary Bishop Mgr Annetto Depasquale.
