To mark the centenary of Malta’s most famous composer, Carmelo Pace, St Paul Choral Society will be giving a concert of his best-loved works in June.
The concert, sponsored by the Bank of Valletta, will be held in the Sacred Heart Auditorium in St Julian’s on Friday, 2 June, commencing at 7.30 pm.
The musical director will be Dr Hugo Agius Muscat – who was a pupil of Carmelo Pace. The soloists will be Rosabelle Bianchi, soprano; Charles Vincenti, tenor; and Albert Buttigieg, bass, who will join the choir in excerpts from Pace’s most famous opera Caterina Desguanez.
The accompanist is Elisabeth Conrad.
The concert also includes both sacred and secular choral works, and popular folk songs like Lapsi and L-Imnarja.
