Charged With trying to seriously injure his wife and two daughters

Malta Independent Wednesday, 24 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

A man was remanded in custody yesterday after pleading not guilty to trying to seriously injure his wife and two daughters and threatening to kill his wife.

Anthony Pisani, 46, was charged with assaulting his wife and trying to seriously injure her and their two daughters in the past three months.

He also pleaded not guilty to trying to grievously injure his wife in the past two years, trying to steer her car into a wall and driving dangerously.

He was further charged with carrying a bread knife without being in possession of a licence, offending public morals and relapsing.

Mr Pisani’s lawyers Philip Galea Farrugia and Michael Tanti Dougall requested magistrate Lawrence Quintano to grant their client bail. The lawyers said that although it was true that the couple have separation proceedings pending, the wife’s claims are false.

Magistrate Quintano turned down the request for bail and Mr Pisani was remanded in custody.

Police Inspector Anthony Cassar prosecuted.
