A fire broke out in the laundry room of a hotel in Gzira in the early hours of yesterday morning but no one was injured.
In a statement, the police said that at about 1am, for reasons unknown, a fire broke out in the laundry room. Hotel staff evacuated the hotel’s guests as a precaution and Civil Protection Department personnel were soon on hand to extinguish the flames which, as a result of being caused by cloth and fibres, were producing a lot of smoke.
Enemalta employees were also called in to ensure that the power supply was safe. The police are still investigating.
