This year’s annual live-in for Maltese parish priests will take place between Tuesday and Thursday at the Archbishop’s Seminary tal-Virtù, Rabat. The theme chosen for this activity is Rghajja skond qalbi (Shepherding according to the heart).
During the first day, Fr Arthur Vella SJ will speak about parish priests as men of God. Archbishop-elect Mgr Pawl Cremona OP will celebrate Mass at 4pm after which Fr Frans Abdilla will speak about the role of parish priests as spiritual animators.
On the second day, Seminary Rector Fr Anton Gouder will give a talk about the relationship between the parish priest with his bishop, the Curia, the pastoral unit and priests. At 4pm Archbishop Joseph Mercieca will celebrate Mass followed by a speech on the collaboration between parish priests and laity delivered by Andrè and Sonia Camilleri and Sammy Borg.
On the third and final day of the live-in, Mgr Victor Grech, Dr Anna Vella and Matthew Agius will speak about how parish priests relate with the emarginated. A holy Mass will bring the live-in to a conclusion
Besides discussions among the whole group, participants will also be involved in smaller working groups.
