A woman was accused yesterday of breaching the bail conditions handed down in two separate court cases.
Elaine Rapinett, 22, from Gzira, was accused of breaching bail conditions handed down by magistrate Lawrence Quintano and magistrate Jacqueline Padovani. In the first case she was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm1,000, while in the second case, she was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm2,000.
Before magistrate Padovani, the prosecution claimed that the defendant was not signing the bail book according to her court order.
Ms Rapinett, who said she did not want to be represented by a lawyer but who then had Dr Martin Fenech representing her, pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.
Magistrate Padovani denied her request for bail and she was remanded in custody.
Police Superintendent Carmelo Bartolo and Police Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted, while Dr Martin Fenech appeared for the accused.
