Following the release of figures relating to the large influx of Maltese who chose to cross over to spend the Carnival weekend in Gozo, The Gozo Tourism Association, would like to express its satisfaction for the busy weekend experienced by all Gozitan tourist establishments.
After consulting its members in the various sections the Gozo Tourism Association confirms that full house situations were reported in all Gozitans Hotels. The farmhouses and the self catering apartments also registered heavy business.
Another section that was kept busy during this long weekend was that of the Gozitan Restaurants. These establishments were busy especially on Saturday and on Sunday throughout the day, after which the majority of the Maltese visitors started to return home.
Bearing in mind the large number of vehicles and commuters, the efforts employed by Gozo Channel to meet the heavy demand were so much evident, the association said. This is yet another proof that Gozo is being branded for its cultural and folkloristic activities. Carnival in Gozo and especially the one organised in Nadur is providing the domestic guests with another reason to cross over to Gozo in their thousands.
Finally, while thanking the Maltese guests for opting for this Carnival break in Gozo, the association looks forward to other busy weekends for the benefit of the Gozitan Tourist Establishments and for Gozo in general. This positive Carnival experience confirms that Gozo remains an appealing destination during the winter months for the domestic market, especially when attractions are organised in Gozo. The Gozo Tourism Association is confident that Gozo is likewise potentially appealing to the foreign tourist during the winter months as it is proving to be with the Maltese visitor.
