Cleland & Souchet Launch another wine

Malta Independent Sunday, 28 June 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The Riviera della Marina restaurant in Vittoriosa recently played host to an important event celebrating the launch of renowned Marabino wine on the local market.

The wine, made from purely organic grapes, begins life in Sicily. And to mark the occasion Italian chef Giuseppe Catanese was invited over to Malta to highlight his use of organic produce in his cooking. Award-winner Mr Catanese, the executive chef of the La Moresca Restaurant in Sicily, joined forces with Riviera della Marina’s chef patron Michael Micallef to showcase the fantastic results that come from twinning the best organic produce, the freshest fish and the ideal choice of wine.

Mr Catanese, originally from Puglia, has been a chef for 15 years. His restaurant forms part of the group of companies which also promotes and grows organic vegetables, and which simultaneously produces Marabino wine.

From 19 to 21 June patrons had the opportunity to sample Mr Catanese’s delicacies at the Riviera della Marina where he and Mr Micallef created a fusion of Sicilian and Maltese cuisine. In fact, Mr Catanese brought baskets of organic vegetables with him from his hometown to use over the weekend.

The menu has naturally been crafted to complement the selection of Marabino wines available.

Marabino wines are exclusively distributed by Cleland & Souchet who are fast becoming one of Malta’s leading wine merchants having built an unrivalled reputation for client service and support plus a vast portfolio of quality wines from 17 countries around the world.
