Iklin local council, referring to the traffic accident in Triq Geronimo Abos on Monday, said it had introduced a parking scheme and the necessary traffic signs in accordance with ADT standards in the vicinity of the roundabout of Triq Geronimo Abos where the accident happened, and lately installed a CCTV camera in the area because of the haphazard parking.

In Triq il-Wied, Triq Geronimo Abos and Triq San Mikiel and the surroundings the council had also introduced a ban on heavy vehicles and the relative traffic signs were put up. The council said it had also applied for various facilities, such as sleeping policemen, a mobile speed camera and a zebra crossing, which were never approved.
