Lawyer Patrick Spiteri has not been found by Maltese police officers who went to the United Kingdom to get him back to Malta for court hearings, The Malta Independent has learnt.

Spiteri had to appear in Maltese courts today to face allegations of fraud. The hearings had to be deferred.

One of the conditions of bail was that he had to be at home when the Maltese police travel to the UK to bring him back to Malta.

However, it appears that Spiteri was not found when officers went to his mansion in the UK.

Last year the 51-year-old Spiteri was presented with another four European Arrest Warrants, three issued by Magistrate Tonio Micallef Trigona and the fourth by former Magistrate Carol Peralta. So in all he has seven EAWs

Patrick Spiteri has been charged a number of times with fraud, including the misappropriation of some 230,000. He was also charged with falsification of documents and defrauding persons who used him as their tax advisor. The cases against him amount to eight cases of fraud in all, adding up to some €1 million.

Spiteri has been living permanently in the UK since January of 2014. He resides in a €4 million country estate.
