The subject of controversial presenter Emmy Bezzina’s rants and insults has dominated on virtually all TV and radio talk shows lately but, as expected, he has also become the star of this year’s ‘spontaneous carnival’ in Nadur, Gozo.

Pictures taken by Anthony Cassar show revelers wearing print-out masks of Dr Bezzina’s face, while others roamed around Nadur’s streets holding pictures of the infamous presenter or cans of peas and carrots.

However, the best act by far was that by a group of youths who set up ‘Emmy’s Grocer’ on a pavement.

Among their bestselling products one can find tins of piżelli, carrots marinated in cow urine and onions marinated in mice droppings – all references to the colourful insults Dr Bezzina has thrown at some of the callers on his TV talk show.
