The Justice Ministry this morning played down an accident that was reported in a sensational manner in another section of the media.

In a statement, the ministry said it wanted to put people’s minds at rest that no serious accidents were reported during the Carnival activities.

The Malta Arts Council had received a report that a private company employee was slightly injured – and not seriously, as reported – in a fireworks accident.

Minister Owen Bonnici called the person who was hurt who informed the minister that the injuries sustained were minor.

The police are investigating.
