Nationalist MP Jason Azzopardi once again abused his parliamentary privilege to lie to the House, Labour MP Robert Abela. It is not true, the Labour Party said in a statement, that he had access to Malta Security Services information.

In Parliament on Tuesday, Azzopardi questioned whether PL MP Robert Abela had access to certain phone records which he should not have had access to. Azzopardi said that the report published after MEPs David Casa, Ana Gomes and Sven Giegold visited Malta indicates that Abela possibly had access to records which he should not be able to see.

In the statement, the PL said that Azzopardi is the one who is lying, and using parliamentary privilege to do so.

When Abela was “defending Malta against attacks orchestrated by the Nationalist Party,” he referred to a statement issued by Malta Security Services which had denied yet another statement by Azzopardi who had said that MSS had information about the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia before the day of her killing.

In a comment on Facbeook, Azzopardi said that at no point during their meeting with the MEPs was any reference or mention made to any prior MSS pr as the PL is now saying.

David Casa, who was part of the EP delegation, also commented:
