Karol Aquilina has been appointed as the secretary for the Nationalist Party’s parliamentary group, while fellow MP Karl Gouder has been appointed as the party’s assistant whip.

In a statement, the PN said that after a parliamentary group on Tuesday, Aquilina had been elected into the statutory role of secretary to the parliamentary group. 

The statement read that he had been nominated for the post by PN leader Bernard Grech.

As per the party’s statute, the secretary of the parliamentary group is an ex-officio official of the party and is responsible for the coordination between the organisation of the party and the parliamentary group.

In the same meeting, Robert Cutajar was confirmed as the party’s parliamentary whip, while Karl Gouder was appointed as the party’s assistant whip.

Gouder fills the vacancy which was left by Frederick Azzopardi who passed away last month.

During the meeting, Grech once again commemorated Azzopardi’s memory, thanking him for all the work done in all the years he served within the parliamentary group.
