A suspect in the murder of a 62-year-old man in Santa Lucija last March has been extradited to Malta, the police said.

A Libyan man, aged 38, was brought to Malta from Casablanca, Morocco, on Tuesday evening.

The victim, Victor McKeon, was found murdered in his home in Misrah Dorell, Santa Lucia, on 17 March.

The body had been found in an advanced stage of decomposition, wrapped in black garbage bags and left in the bathroom.

The police had been informed that McKeon had not been seen in public in a while

The autopsy had shown that the man had been hit in the head and suffocated.

Investogations led the police to believe that the suspect had flown to Morocco before the body of the man had been found.

Six days later, he had been arrested in Casablanza and extradition proceedings had been initiated.

They have now been concluded and the suspect was brought to Malta.

He is expected to be charged in the coming days.
