The vaccination process in elderly care homes concluded earlier than predicted, Minister for the Elderly Michael Farrugia announced today

He said that the process has concluded in 39 elderly care homes. "More than 3,700 residents and 2,800 staff have taken both vaccination doses."

He said that the vaccination process in such homes began on 7 January.  He also spoke of the process for the elderly who live within the community and are unable to leave their homes. These people began receiving vaccinations on 25 January, he said. As from 8 March, the vaccine will also start being administered to elderly people in Gozo who have mobility problems.

Up until 4 March, he said, 1,285 elderly in the community received the first dose of the virus, while 641 received their second dose.
