Animal rights activist Moira Delia walked off a live TV programme last night after a zookeeper accused her of lying when speaking about a photo of him keeping a bear chained.

The heated argument between Delia and zookeeper Chris Borg broke out on Insights, a programme on TVMNews+. Delia said that Borg kept a bear on a chain, saying she had photo evidence.

Borg accused her of lying, saying they never bring animals out on a chain.

While she tried to make her argument, he kept speaking over her, and she walked out.

Posting on Facebook, she said that she is not a liar and would never accept someone continuing to call her such without being allowed to make her point. “I take my job very seriously and I have no reason to lie. My only interest is to be the voice of animals. What I was saying is the truth and I was quoting 4 Paws International – a group of professionals who conduct scientific studies on exotic animals around the world.”

Glen Falzon, the presenter of the programme said that during the programme he asked to go to adverts when Delia walked out. During this period, he said he spoke to both invitees. “Moira Delia did not want to continue debating before Borg apologises for saying she lied. Borg did not want to retract what he said. I tried to find a compromise and suggested that the programme continue with the debate. The second proposal was that the programme format change and that an interview take plays one on one with the invitees with equal time. No agreement was reached on either proposal.”

He said that he decided to continue with the two party candidates who were planned to debate in the programme later.
