The latest Maltese Benchmark paper for year 6 students has been described as being of an inadequate level for students of their age.
Maltese teachers have taken to Facebook to express their disapproval of the Maltese exam paper which was taken by students yesterday.
One of the teachers, Mark Spiteri Lucas, a teacher of Maltese, said that whoever was in charge of the creation of the exam paper clearly "has no idea of how a class of year 6 is".
Parents have also commented on the posts and said that that their children arrived home crying and terrified that they didn't do well in the exam.
Gozo College Rabat Primary headmaster Lelio Spiteri, in a Facebook post said that he is not going to comment on the exam paper itself but reiterated that he is going to continue to believe in what he has been saying all along, whilst referring to his earlier post about how recurring tests during the scholastic year should replace exams all together.
Giving examples of "strange" words that were used in the exam, teacher Mario Zammit said that the people who compiled the examination paper should be "ashamed".
